LNG floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) / CAD model / mobile LNG plant on a ship

Floating LNG production and storage Linde Engineering delivers LNG Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) units to access and unlock stranded offshore gas reserves.

Rising demand for natural gas is fuelling interest in monetising stranded offshore gas reserves. These reserves can only be accessed and unlocked with floating facilities capable of liquefying and storing natural gas. Together with SBM Offshore, we have developed a generic liquefied natural gas (LNG) concept that can be used to design a safe, robust and economically viable Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) facility. This blueprint uses proven components to the greatest extent possible.

Our generic LNG FPSO is designed for a liquefaction capacity of up to 2.5 million tonnes per annum (tpa), utilising our proven LIMUM® (Linde Multi-Stage Mixed Refrigerant) process. The design is flexible enough to enable quick adjustments supporting project-specific requirements without changing the overall concept. This includes near-shore applications.

Our LNG FPSO is designed as a stand-alone system for field development and, as such, has extensive pre-treatment facilities that can handle untreated well fluids. This facility thus works independently of typical LNG infrastructures – eliminating the need for new pipelines, platforms, separate by-product storage, etc. If needs be, the unit also supports sequestration of CO2.

This flexible, independent design gives our customers a substantial number of benefits such as fast implementation schedules, competitive prices as well as safe and reliable concepts for reduced project risks.

Linde and SBM have expended considerable effort to develop and engineer a generic LNG FPSO so that the design can be quickly tailored for a specific project. This provides clients with a substantial number of benefits such as a fast implementation schedule, a competitive price as well as a safe & reliable concept which mitigates project risks.
